The first thing you notice about the Alcatel Go Flip 4 is the simple clamshell design. Like previous Alcatel phones, it has a small external screen that shows the date and time and a large internal display that lets you navigate through the phone’s features. What sets the Go Flip 4 apart, however, is its long battery life, call clarity, and app store compatibility.
In our tests, calls came through surprisingly well on the Go Flip 4, and its speakerphone made it easy to talk hands-free. The Go Flip 4 lasted about two weeks on a single charge, making it a good choice for people who occasionally forget to charge their devices. Another thing that impressed us was the phone’s app store. Usually limited to smartphones, the app store enables us to download free apps for adults, including WhatsApp, Facebook, and various games.
The only downside of the Go Flip 4 is its camera. At just 2 megapixels, most of the photos we took paled in comparison to photos from other phones in this range.

The Alcatel Go Flip 4 can be purchased through T-Mobile for a one-time payment of $96 or 4 monthly payments. You can buy a phone from big box retailers and pair it with the network of your choice.

Lively’s Jitterbug Flip2 isn’t a smartphone, but with Alexa compatibility, a dual-camera design, and security features, it redefines what modern phones can do. The easy-to-navigate menu, large backlit keypad, and built-in SOS emergency button make it stand out from mainstream flip phones.
The Jitterbug Flip2 is the easiest phone to use on this list. A simple list-based menu makes it easy to navigate the phone’s features, including calls, messages, camera and Alexa. Each of my calls came through with high quality audio.

One of my favorite things about the Flip2 is the Alexa functionality. Just by using my voice, I can call contacts, send messages, and ask questions. For example, I asked my Flip2: “How many teaspoons are in a cup?” My phone answered: “There are 48 teaspoons in the cup.” For any questions related to weather, news, or current events, this article will be very helpful.
There are two service plan options for Lively and Jitterbug Flip2. For $14.99 a month, you get 300 minutes and 10 cents per text. For $19.99 a month, you can get unlimited talk and text. Flip2 also offers the option to purchase the Health and Safety package, which turns your phone into a full medical alert system. To learn more about these plans, check out our Jitterbug phone review.
It’s not specifically designed for seniors, but the iPhone SE is the perfect choice for someone looking to upgrade from a traditional phone. If you’re looking for a phone with internet access and stellar camera quality – and you don’t mind a slight learning curve – then the iPhone SE is a great place to start.
The iPhone SE excels in basic phone features. All of our test phones performed very well, even with hearing aids. The iPhone SE excels thanks to its built-in assistant, Siri. With this feature, you can make calls, send messages, and browse the web easily using your voice. The phone’s plethora of features can be intimidating to strangers, but its voice commands make it easy to navigate.
Bigpurplephone: The Smartphone For Seniors
The iPhone SE has the best camera of the phones in this range. All of our test photos are high definition, and easy to text to friends or post on social media. Newer iterations of the iPhone have better cameras, but the SE definitely gets the job done—and costs less than half the iPhone 13.
The iPhone SE works with several major carriers, so it’s best to shop around to see which provider has the best deal. Mint Mobile is currently offering 12 months of free service when you buy an iPhone SE for $399. On the other hand, T-Mobile sells this phone for $429.99 when bundled with one of their unlimited plans.
A collection of super-friendly smartphones is incomplete without the famous Jitterbug Smart3 from Lively. Smart3 has a bright, clear 5.5-inch display and a simplified menu that allows you to easily find frequently used items. The Smart3 is an easy-to-use, full-featured phone, but where it shines is in its emergency features.
Jitterbug phone users don’t have to worry about missing medications, thanks to MedCoach, which sends prescriptions and pill reminders. Lively also comes with Quick Care (Premium and Premium Plans), which connects users with registered nurses and doctors who can answer medical questions. All plans come with 5Star, a medical alert service that connects you to emergency agencies regardless of the time of day or night.

For people with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or mental retardation, the RAZ Memory Phone is a great option with easy operation. With the photo-based menu, users can easily make and receive calls from loved ones with minimal confusion.
Despite the large screen of the RAZ for Memory, it has only one menu. Displays contact information and photos for up to six contacts, plus a dedicated 911 button. A simplified menu may not work for everyone, but it will greatly reduce the confusion caused by endless menus and notifications.

With Memory Phone, loved ones can track the device through RAZ’s online portal. They can create contacts, check the phone’s battery life, and see its location. This information can help people caring for a loved one with a degenerative disease.
A Memory Phone isn’t for everyone, but it can provide a much-needed means of communication for people with Alzheimer’s or dementia. To learn more about these types of devices, see our guide to phones for people with dementia.
Choosing a cell phone provider that has the features you want is just as important as choosing a phone. When looking for plans, try to find one with enough allowances for talk, text, and data.
I always recommend T-Mobile plans for seniors. T-Mobile’s trio of discounted unlimited plans for people 55 and older offer access to one of the nation’s largest mobile networks and don’t require annual service contracts.
