I have an Officejet Pro 8620 that suddenly stops printing and shows Unable to Print error. Connect your printer for HP instant Ink Status updates.
I hit connect and it just sits there with a spinning circle saying Now connecting… then after a minute or two it says it can’t connect to the server. The internet connection is good, I tried both wireless and wired with the same result. I have checked that the date and time are correct, removed the power and let it sit for 10 minutes, turned it back on without success, removed the web service and reactivated it without success. I have factory reset the printer a billion times with no success. I’m ready to smash this thing in the parking lot and go buy Epson too if it doesn’t start working. No matter what I tried, it wouldn’t PRINT, it would make noise and shake the table like it was going to print, then bam, stupid error can’t connect to the internet. I press the web service icon a little and it says check the registration status, get the email address and then show the email address, it says connected and HP ePrint and the app is on but does not print via network or USB. And yes, my IP address is correct, gateway is correct and DNS is correct.

Thanks for the Dvortex reply, I’ve tried google DNS and the new firmware. I went through all the solutions posted on the forum before writing my post and none of them worked.

I didn’t set it up with Instant Ink so I don’t know why it keeps trying to check with the hp server. I logged in to the account connected to my phone and it said everything is fine, I checked everything but it still doesn’t print
It’s weird if you don’t have instant ink setup and the printer asks “connect printer to update HP instant ink status”.

This post doesn’t say whether you can solve this problem or not. I have the same problem. I printed a good document yesterday. Then it suddenly stopped printing with the same problem mentioned in this thread. Tried everything: factory default, install and reinstall software/drivers several times, check system settings to make sure everything is active and working, shutdown/wait/restart, connect via USB, you name it, even restore to time previous. Still the same error message shown above. One difference is that I don’t want to program instant ink. I’m at 22 months and have never gone through an ink cartridge so it’s a waste of money. It printed well with only annoying ink IMs that I would close and then print. Then yesterday after printing about 30 pages the above message started and I couldn’t deal with it. I tried to update the firmware which is supposed to be for third party ink (even though I have HP ink from Staples in it) and it will detect the printer on the second try but I can’t check the box to update this software. STATUS on this line says updated, but I don’t know how it works if I can’t open this update. Anyway, please help. I spent all day yesterday trying to fix this with no success. I’m starting to believe that HP is not the printer to go with. Thank you for your cooperation.

I signed up for this Instant Ink to schedule an ink deal pickup. All of these Instant Ink programs have completely stopped me from using my printer.
If this problem is not fixed I will not use HP products again. This is ridiculous. You are completely incompetent until you figure out how to reconnect to the internet.
