The lack of an LCD screen can be annoying if your printing habits tend to make multiple copies and make multiple settings adjustments, and during testing we found ourselves wishing for a preset favorites button that would let you automatically program frequently used settings. Snapshot photographers will also balk at the lack of a memory card reader, a feature typically found on most entry-level printers you come across. However, we stand by our recommendation for the MP495 if you plan to use it regularly: Frequent printers should consider a higher-end model with a display and extra features like an automatic document feeder for hands-free scanning.
Two opposing trays control paper handling: the input tray folds down from the top and can hold up to 150 sheets of 8.5″ by 11″ plain paper, and an angled output tray on the bottom can hold only hold 50 sheets of bond paper, but conveniently folds into the device until not in use.
